The FIAT System: Functional Idiographic Assessment Template For use with Interpersonally-based interventions including Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) or FAP-enhanced Treatments Glenn M. Callaghan, Ph.D. San Jose State University Please contact Glenn Callaghan for permission to use this assessment system at One Washington Square Department of Psychology San Jose State University San Jose CA 95192-0120 phone: (408) 924-5610 fax: (408) 924-5605 email: glennc@email.sjsu.edu © Feb 2001, G. M. Callaghan, Ph.D. FIAT Manual Instructions and User Information This manual is designed to be used with the Functional Idiographic Assessment Template (FIAT) in conjunction with Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) or FAPenhanced treatments. The FIAT manual specifies the classes of behaviors used with the Client Forms (FIAT-C pre and FIAT-C post) and Therapist Forms (FIAT-T pre and FIAT-T post) of the assessment template.

The use of the manual assumes that therapists have a working knowledge of the principles of FAP (Kohlenberg & Tsai, 1991) and have an understanding of the administration of assessment devices in accordance with the ethical principles of test administration, or are receiving training in one or both of these areas. It is also highly recommended that users have a basic understanding of the FAP Rating Scale (FAPRS- 2; Callaghan, Ruckstuhl, & Follette, 1999). Understanding of Response Classes. Users are also expected to have an understanding of behavior analysis, particularly of functional response classes of behavior. A response class is a group of Clinically Relevant Behaviors (CRBs) that all function to have a particular effect regardless of form the response might take (i.e., its topographical features). This distinction requires therapists to differentiate the effect the client’s behavior is having rather than merely watching what the client is doing. Functional classes are understood idiographically and are based on the analysis of each particular client’s problem and effective behaviors. For example, a client may cry, attack, or skip sessions. If each of these behaviors functions to allow the client to avoid talking about an emotional experience, even though the behaviors have different topographies, they could all be instances of the same response class. It is the therapist’s task to recognize the function of a response rather than identifying a behavior based merely on its topography.

Welcome to my guide on FIAT 124 Spider engine maintenance and modification. Spiders are great cars, born in the mid 1960's when sports cars were fun to drive, affordable, and easy to work on. They remain a hobbyists’ dream. In 2002 I started to compile the various pieces of knowledge I obtained over the years into guides, first on carburetion and intake/exhaust systems, then, in 2004, a guide (more like a pamphlet) on fuel injection. I revised both guides over the years and finally compiled everything into this single document. My goal is to help you enjoy your FIAT as much as I enjoy mine. Acknowledgements and great thanks to… Jennifer Artigue, who has always supported (or tolerated) my obsession with these cars; Richard Ridge reviewed this guide several times throughout its development and has been instrumental in reviewing my other works as well; Eli Caul maintains Mirafiori, the FIAT page (www.mirafiori.com) and has worked tirelessly in his support of the FIAT community; Andrew Artigue disassembled, rebuilt, restored, and drove many Spiders with me throughout the last ten or so years; Troy McKaskle performed the final edits on the document and allowed his cars to be as test cases long before any of us claimed to know what we were doing; Pete Angel supplied diagrams and suggestions and reviewed sections of this document throughout its development; and Mike Richmond and Thad Kirk who wrote or reviewed sections of my previous works, much of which was brought over to this document.

FIAT 500 1957-73 Workshop Manual Autobooks Models Covered Fiat New 500 Fiat 500D Fiat 500F Fiat 500L Fiat and Autobianchi Giardiniera CHAPTER 1 THE ENGINE 1 :1 1 :2 1 :3 1 :4 1 :5 1 :6 1 :7 1 :8 1:9 1 :10 1 :11 Description Engine removal (sedan—all versions) Engine removal (station wagon) Engine disassembly (sedan—all versions) Engine disassembly (station wagon) Cylinder head removal, servicing and replacement Timing gear overhaul Crankcase and cylinders Piston assembly Connecting rods Crankshaft and main bearings 1 :1 Description The 'New 500' two-cylinder aircooled engine operates on the four-stroke 'Otto Cycle' and is fitted directly to the transmission unit which incorporates the rear drive assembly as shown in FIG 1 :1 and FIG 1 :2. With the power unit fitted at the rear several advantages are obtained including better load distribution to the wheels when the vehicle is loaded, elimination of propeller shaft reducing the size of centre tunnel and better use of available space. The cylinder block comprises two cast iron cylinder barrels with cooling fins. The bottom of the cylinders fit into machined seats in the aluminium crankcase. The aluminium crankcase carries eight studs on which are located the two cylinder barrels with the aluminium cylinder head on the top. A two bush crankshaft of special cast iron is fitted into the lower half of the crankcase. The crankshaft is F500 9 provided with a counterweight and is hollow to allow for lubrication. The steel connecting rods have thin wall bearing halves on the big-end, and bronze bushes in the small-end. The offset piston pin is of steel and retained in the piston by two circlips. Light alloy pistons are used and are of the taper-ovalshaped type with a maximum diameter at the base of the skirt, along an axis perpendicular to the piston pin. Pistons are fitted with four rings as follows, one compression at the top, two standard oil scraper rings and one side slotted oil scraper ring. The one-piece aluminium cylinder head is finned to provide a larger cooling surface and carries the inlet and exhaust manifolds. The inlet passages merge into a single centralized flange onto which is mounted the carburetter. The exhaust passages run almost parallel to the axis of the engine

Mounted on the top of the cylinder head is the overhead valve rocker mechanism that is operated by a chain driven camshaft through tappets and vertical pushrods. The carburetter is of the downdraft type fitted with a starting device that is controlled by a lever on the central floor tunnel. A pleated paper element air cleaner and silencer is fitted to the carburetter air intake. A mechanical diaphragm type fuel pump operated from the camshaft by a pushrod, supplies petrol to the carburetter from a fuel tank located at the front of the vehicle. Engine lubrication is provided by a gear pump driven from the camshaft and mounted within the timing cover drawing oil from the engine sump. The oil is cleaned by a centrifugal filter situated at the rear end of the crankshaft and pressure is controlled by a valve mounted on the pump body. Crankcase ventilation is provided for through a rubber hose connected to the top of the rocker cover. The engine is cooled by air from a centrifugal blower mounted on the generator shaft and housed in a specially designed cowling conveying air to and around the engine. The air temperature is governed by a special thermostat fitted in the engine cowling

SYMBOLS Special coloured labels have been attached near or actually on some of the components of your car. These labels bear symbols that remind you of the precautions to be taken as regards that particular component. The inner surface of the engine bonnet includes a label with the different symbols used. THE FIAT CODE SYSTEM This is an electrical engine locking system which increases protection from attempted theft of the car. It is automatically activated when the ignition key is extracted. Each time the car is started turning the ignition key to MAR, the Fiat CODE system control unit sends a recognition code to the engine control unit to deactivate the inhibitor. If, during ignition, the code is not correctly recognized, the light Ylights up on the instrument panel. In this case, turn the key to STOP and then back to MAR; try with the other keys provided if the problem persists. If you still cannot start the engine contact the Fiat Dealership. IMPORTANT Each key has its own code which must be stored by the system ECU. Contact the Fiat Dealership to have new keys (up to eight) stored with the code. The electronic components inside the key may be damaged if the key is submitted to sharp knocks.

Door and tailgate lock release Short pressure on button Ë: door and tailgate lock release, timed turn on of ceiling lights and double flashing of direction indicators (for versions/markets where provided). Door locks are automatically released in case of intervention of the fuel cut-off system. Lock of doors and tailgate Short pressure on button Á: remote lock of doors and of tailgate with switch off of ceiling lights and single flashing of direction indicators (where provided). If one or more doors are open, the lock is not realized. This is signalled by a quick flashing of the direction indicators (where provided). Door lock is realized in the event of open boot. With speed over 20 km/h, the doors are automatically locked, if this specific function was set (only with multi-function configurable display in the versions where it is provided).
